Improve IVF Success with Advanced Genetic Screening

At GP-Fertility, we understand that every fertility journey is deeply personal—and often complex. Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is one of the most advanced tools available in modern reproductive medicine, helping intended parents improve IVF outcomes, reduce risks, and make more informed decisions with confidence.

Whether you are concerned about genetic conditions, previous IVF failures, or pregnancy loss, PGT offers an additional layer of precision and reassurance.

Start your journey with clarity and confidence.

What is Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)?

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is an advanced laboratory procedure performed on embryos before they are transferred to the uterus during an IVF cycle.

The purpose of PGT is to evaluate embryos for genetic and chromosomal abnormalities, allowing fertility specialists to identify embryos with the highest potential for successful implantation and healthy development.

As an add-on to IVF, PGT significantly enhances embryo selection, increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy while reducing the likelihood of complications.

How PGT Works

PGT is a multi-step process integrated into the IVF cycle:

  • Eggs and sperm are combined in a laboratory setting to achieve fertilization
  • Fertilized eggs begin developing into embryos
  • Embryos are cultured for approximately 5 days until they reach the blastocyst stage
  • A small number of cells are carefully biopsied from the outer layer of the embryo
  • These cells are analyzed in a specialized genetics laboratory

Importantly, the inner cell mass—which develops into the baby—is not affected during the biopsy process.

Types of Preimplantation Genetic Testing

PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies) evaluates whether an embryo has the correct number of chromosomes. A healthy embryo contains 46 chromosomes—23 from each parent. Abnormalities in chromosome number are one of the leading causes of failed implantation and early miscarriage.

PGT-A is commonly recommended for patients who:

  • Are over the age of 35
  • Have experienced recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Have had previous failed IVF cycles
  • Have severe male factor infertility

By identifying chromosomally normal embryos, PGT-A helps reduce miscarriage risk and improves implantation success.

Who Should Consider PGT?

PGT may be recommended if you:

  • Are 35 years or older
  • Have experienced multiple miscarriages
  • Have had unsuccessful IVF cycles
  • Carry or are at risk of passing on a genetic condition
  • Have severe male factor infertility
  • Want to improve embryo selection and IVF efficiency

At GP-Fertility, our specialists provide personalized guidance to determine whether PGT is appropriate for your specific situation.

Benefits of PGT

PGT offers several important advantages:

  • Improves IVF success rates by selecting the most viable embryos
  • Reduces the risk of miscarriage
  • Helps prevent inherited genetic diseases
  • Supports informed decision-making
  • Optimizes time and emotional investment in IVF

For many patients, PGT provides greater confidence and clarity throughout the fertility journey.

Important Considerations

While PGT is a powerful tool, it may not be necessary for every patient. Factors to consider include:

  • Individual medical history
  • Age and fertility profile
  • Ethical or personal preferences
  • Financial considerations

Our global network of fertility specialists ensures that every recommendation is tailored, evidence-based, and aligned with your goals.

Sex Selection (Where Medically Permitted)

In some cases, PGT may also be used to identify the sex of an embryo. This is typically recommended for medical reasons, such as preventing sex-linked genetic conditions. In certain regions, it may also be available for family balancing, depending on local laws and regulations.

At GP-Fertility, all such services are provided in strict compliance with applicable legal and ethical standards.
